Our story
The Anglo Congolese Association (ACA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2015 in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It was established to connect with both developed and emerging English-speaking communities and to empower young Congolese eager to learn English, enhancing their social, economic, and professional opportunities—particularly in the Great Lakes region.
Over the past decade, ACA has collaborated with public and private educational institutions to promote English as a vital communication tool and to empower youth through education and entrepreneurship. These initiatives provide young people with opportunities to drive positive change through grassroots activities while equipping schools to enhance English learning via programs like English club competitions.
With support from the US Embassy in Kinshasa and a private American donor, ACA has built a network of over 70 English clubs, reaching around 5,000 secondary school students in Bukavu. These clubs focus on understanding students’ motivations for learning English while encouraging educators to develop practical solutions and address broader social challenges.
Today, ACA serves as a hub for the aspirations of a new generation of young Congolese, fostering collaboration, mutual support, and shared best practices for sustainable development. By emphasizing English, climate change awareness, and youth skills development, the organization continues to strengthen youth, communities, and youth clubs—supporting positive transformations across the country.
